ABOUT ME

Originally from Birmingham, AL, I enlisted the United States Air Force as an airman and retired as a captain after 23 years of service.  I specialized in Communications and Intelligence, Information Technology, Satellite Networks, Plans and Programs, Equal Opportunity (EO), Logistics, and Academic Operations. My tours of duty include the Middle East, Korea, the Philippines, Maryland, New Mexico, Virginia, and Washington, DC.  I served as a Detachment Commander, Watch Officer, EO Director, and Deputy Operations Chief.  In addition to the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute and Squadron Officer School, I'm a graduate of the the Basic and Advanced Communications Officer Training School and Joint Information Operations School.

I currently live in Garner, NC after retiring in 2012 from active duty in Washington, DC.  I graduated from the University of Maryland University College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and I have an MBA from Grantham University.

I began writing non-fiction, and later published my first novel in 2008, a collection of letters from students called Dear Captain Moore: Letters to a Service Member in the Middle East.  From 2007-2009, I also served as a guest columnist in Cannon Connections, the base newspaper at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico.

As a lifelong runner and three-time marathoner, 101 Reasons is my second book about running.  My first book was The Power Within: A Spiritual Guide for Runners in 2010, a book that contains Biblical passages, scriptures and their relation to running, races, perseverance, and victory.

When I'm not running, I enjoy traveling with my wife, writing, playing my guitar, and riding my motorcycle.
